The difference between people who have taken a 200hr training and those who haven't in understanding basic aspects of yoga is astonishing. Even people who have been practicing for years but haven't done a YTT may not fully understand the difference between various styles or how they should really be getting into a pose. Those who want to learn more about yoga but don't want to teach have to decide between investing a large amount of time and money to take a course not focused on them or trying to learn it on their own and having no idea where to start.
I want to bridge that gap by offering a Yoga School which helps students engage with their practice meaningfully and creating a community for people interested to discuss yoga and learn more together.
The FallOver Yoga School is made up of:
The Foundations: a 4 week long course covering the basics: (1) history and philosophy, (2) living your yoga, (3) subtle anatomy, (4) styles and home practice (and any catch-up or topics of interest). Groups would be capped at 12 people to facilitate better engagement. Each class will be a total of 3 hours including breaks: 1 hour yoga class (varying in styles and practices), 30 minutes asana breakdown of key poses, and 1.5 hours discussing that week's topic. This helps provide a foundation for basic yoga understanding, helps students understand what they're being told during classes, and empowers them to continue their learning beyond. It can also act as a refresher for those who have already undergone a YTT. As there will be an asana class component at the beginning, I'm not entirely sure if it would be suitable for absolute beginners to asana practice, but if there was an interest I would be willing to accommodate or even just run a Beginners Asana Course.

The Explorations: courses ranging from 2-6 weeks that focus on a particular topic - for example, the yoga sutras, chakra theory, yin theory. Similar to the Foundations course, each class will start with a yoga sequence in the particular theme, followed by 1.5 hours of theory. A poll with three topics will be posted say a few weeks before, and those interested would pay a small deposit and chose the topics they would be interested in taking. The topic with the most votes will be the one offered for that period and the students would pay the rest on the day.

The Community: create a private group which is free to join, in which people can post interesting articles they want to discuss, organise book clubs, arrange events, etc. This could also involve monthly socials which allow people to get together, talk, and have fun - this could be as simple as offering tea and small treats at the cafe, to bigger events.
If you're a teacher who wants to be involved, please contact me and let's chat!
I would be incredibly excited to bring this Yoga School to life as it embodies everything I wish I had been able to access when I started yoga and the community I want to build and be a part of.
